Just a short drive from the lodge, the charming town of Boulder Junction offers great local restaurants, cozy cafés, unique boutiques, and classic Northwoods bait and tackle shops. Don’t forget to stop for ice cream—it's a guest favorite after a day on the lake.

LAKE ACTIVITIES

Summer days are perfect for boating, paddling, and casting a line from the private dock, where the fishing is always a favorite for families. In winter, the frozen lake becomes an ideal spot for ice fishing, giving guests a true Northwoods seasonal adventure.

MILES OF SCENIC TRAILS

Guests love the extensive trail systems surrounding Boulder Junction. In summer and fall, the hiking paths wind through forests, lakes, and wildlife areas. In winter, those same routes transform into some of the best snowmobile trails in the Northwoods, offering miles of beautifully groomed riding.

Our four sons and their families spent a fun filled week at the historic lodge. Krista, the owner, was very pleasant and easy to work with. She met us on our arrival and showed us around. We loved all of the space and openness of the lodge. We all enjoyed the pool table and game table. The kitchen space was great when cooking for a large group. Beautiful lake and we were able to catch plenty of fish for a nice fish fry before leaving. We enjoyed watching the eagles catch their supper and listening to the loons! Beds were comfortable. Hope we can return again!

We loved the open layout of the main floor, especially the wall of windows overlooking the lake, it made the whole space feel bright, spacious, and connected to nature. There was more than enough room for our large group, and everyone felt comfortable. The lake was perfect for the kids, with an easily accessible sandy beach and excellent pan fishing, even right off the dock. It was such a relaxing and fun trip for all ages. We’re already planning to book again next year!

Forest Lodge offers a special blend of history and comfort that makes every stay memorable. The fishing was excellent, we caught plenty of bass and even a musky, and the boys had a blast reeling in fish right off the pier on the dock. Each bedroom is charmingly decorated, adding to the cozy lodge experience. We always love getting our large family together and Forest Lodge was a wonderful experience and memory, we would love to return next summer.

History

Forest Lodge on High Lake was built in 1938 by local craftsmen and operated for decades as a beloved American Plan resort, known for exceptional hospitality, memorable gatherings, and family vacations.

Today, the lodge blends its rich history, including original Old Hickory furnishings with modern comforts, offering a refined yet nostalgic retreat. It is our honor to continue the tradition of warm, high-standard hospitality that made Forest Lodge so special.
